... So yeah. Say hello to the only Slytherin, aside from Snape the Spy, who could be bothered fighting the good fight. A fat, bald old man in his green pyjamas.
But... aren't Slytherins all about t3h fighting? Fighting MUGGLES too, who can't really fight back...
And SERIOUSLY? There's no OTHER good Slytherins 'cept Snape and Horace? Surely there must be at least ONE other (lying around somewheres)? NO? I mean, just b/c I can't recall one, doesn't mean there's only the two good ones.
well yes and no - Gryffindors are about fighting for honour and friendship etc. Slytherins are no cowards by rule, but they always do what's in their personal interests rather than stand up for honourable reasons. That's how I'd see it
The whole pureblood ideology thing rings in a nice endorsement for the 'fighting,' wouldn't you agree? (And I have a feeling that Voldy played on the pureblood hype thing to get himself a nice political seat by, erm, killing anyone who stood in his way. After he had an army at his disposal to destroy anybody remaining, of course.).
Unless you think Voldy an EXCEPTION to the Slytherins...
sure, you're right there. voldemort wanted to 'purify'and rule the wizarding world, so he was all for the fighting. maybe as a slytherin you get violent once you aim for dominance? after all slughorn is a slytherin too, but he never wanted to dominate anyone, although he was powerful in his own way, having all these connections and aquaintances.
Would you say that Slughorn is manipulative? I can honestly say I don't know what to think of him. I can't imagine what he and Dumbledore would have in common -- or are they just colleagues, and Dumbledore hired him because he saw Slughorn as a means to an end (make Snape happy by giving him the dada job)?
XD Slughorn for the win!
